Slow your Mouse down! (and reduce hand pain)

Slowing down your mouse greatly reduces muscle tension in your hand

  1. Open Control Panel from Task Bar / Start / Settings / Control Panel
  2. In Control Panel double-click on Mouse
  3. Select Motion
  4. Under Pointer Speed move the slider hard left to Slow
  5. Click OK

Speed up your Keyboard! (and reduce arm pain)

Do less tapping on the arrow keys.

  1. Open Control Panel from Task Bar / Start / Settings / Control Panel
  2. In Control Panel double-click on Keyboard
  3. Push all sliders hard right
  4. Repeat delay - Short, Repeat rate - Fast, Cursor blink rate - Fast

Speed up your Screen! (and avoid eye strain)

Less screen flicker causes less headaches and reduces eye fatigue.

  1. Open Control Panel from Task Bar / Start / Settings / Control Panel
  2. In Control Panel double-click on Display
  3. Select Settings
  4. Under Refresh Frequency select (and test) the highest rate your screen will work with (ideally 85 Hz, but at least 75 Hz)
  5. Re-adjust size and shape of screen using monitor controls.

Want lots more space on your screen? (get a bigger virtual desk)

This allows you to fit far more information on your screen.

  1. Open Control Panel from Task Bar / Start / Settings / Control Panel
  2. In Control Panel double-click on Display
  3. Select Settings
  4. Under Desktop Area move the slider to the right to 800 by 600. (If you have a 17 inch screen try 1024 by 768 pixels)
  5. Press OK to test. If test is successful keep new setting
  6. Change the Refresh Frequency to 70-75 Hz or higher (see here)
  7. Re-adjust size and shape of screen using monitor controls.
  8. If text is too small then under Font Size choose Large Fonts
  9. Click OK
